Feedback by client:

  • Look at how much the subscription will discount the one-off price. Too much? Too little?
Going forward, I will need to consider how often I would like to publish my magazine and the price that comes along with it. The subscription cost will need to be fairly discounted compared to purchasing the magazine at a one-off price, but not too discounted to the point where little-to-no profit is made. I would like to keep my magazine at £2.50 but reconsider the subscription fee compared to how often the issues are on the market.
  • Niche genre, would there be enough content to provide an issue weekly?
I agree with what the client has said, with the case that because my magazine is fit in such a small category of North London based, hip-hop influenced DJ's, I may need to reconsider the amount of issues my magazine does annually. A good suggestion by the client was to make it fortnightly, which I believe is suitable for the amount of content I would like to do and the upkeep of that.
  • Do the artists involved constantly link back to the brief with the involvement of North London?
When making the content for my magazine I will need to consider this and make sure the requirements are met from the brief. My option to be more expansionary to London as a whole is a good compromise as it allows the requirement of the inclusion of perhaps North London venues and artists, but also the fact my magazine fits in such a niche category and there is a risk of lacking content. Therefore I will be able to do both in publishing fortnightly and also meeting the brief through the involvement of music in North London.
  • How is the magazine going to target both target audiences through design?
With the feedback given about my broad colour scheme and how it might not attract both target audiences, I will need to distinguish this in my content making it fitting and appealing to whatever content is shown, whether its more suited to the production or the interest of the genre as a whole. I believe I will still need to include these neons ,that are shown in my colour scheme, as it encapsulates the DJ genre of the bright lights and stage sets they use. I will also need to incorporate this in the images and fonts I use to echo the style of music I'm trying to portray. There will be no direct design towards a gender or age as my magazine attempts to target both sexes and a younger age group of people.

  • What North London facilities would I distribute my North London venue to?
As mentioned in my proposal I need to be broader in this as I want my magazine to gain exposure throughout North London and not particularly music themed venues. Thats why my distribution and marketing of the magazine should be available in general North London facilities such as supermarkets and cinemas as this will allows a whole new group of people to gain a new perspective into the genre and learn more about it. As well, I will of course market to music themes venues in London as they particularly will grant the most interest to an audience.
  • Fonts - lowercase, not as bold, easy to read.
The discussion through the feedback I received was to use simple fonts for articles that are easy to read and convenient for the reader. Like displayed on my presentation with the font 'Lemon milk' I could use the bolder version for questions and the thinner font for answers. But it cannot be all uppercase as that would not be appealing to read for the consumer. As well as this, like displayed in my digital copy, I will use the initial font of 'Quantum' rather than the other example displayed for my title as the one I used is much more relevant to what my magazine displays and is more aesthetically pleasing.
  • How will the magazine highlight the exclusivity of the venue discounts more noticeably?
I will need to consider this feedback in the marketing aspect of my magazine as this should be made aware of for the readers to feel like they're involved with something super exclusive to them. There will be articles in the back pages of my magazine showcasing the offers on sale in that time period. They could be further looked into through the use of QR codes directing them to ticket sales of gigs or even just codes that can be used on specific websites for events that are nearby.
