FEEDBACK FROM VIDEO

  • On the magazine price being £1:
The client believes the sale price of my magazine is too cheap, despite the attempts to target my specific audience. From this feedback I understand that as it would be very difficult for my magazine as a company to earn a sustainable profit as most magazines are not as cheap as this. I will take this into consideration when delivering my final pitch and to make these adjustments.
  • On the examples I have given for magazine competition and the profanity it includes:
I understand that some of the wording on the magazine examples consists of mature themes. I was not/will not looking to include this as content on my finished front cover. The examples were an attempt to portray the layout and pops of colour that DJ-inspired magazines consist off. As I have targeted a younger target audience I will take note of this feedback and not include any mature language in my content.

  • On how the younger target audience will connect with the music scene in North London through my magazine:
My magazine takes the difficult challenge of trying to bring in an impressionable audience that would take interest in producing music and making beats and also general listeners of people that would enjoy this in places that could be 18+. Through the feedback that has been given, I could try to impress the client by distinguishing this in my magazine, potentially by having split sections of the production methods and then later sharing an article on where you can hear this music. I believe even as the secondary audience, who are more of general listeners, would still take an interest further into the genre of how hip-hop and DJ's can collaborate and discover some important things to note when hearing the final piece of music made.

  • On including the retro colour scheme:
As mentioned in the pitch as feedback, my next improved pitch will include a colour scheme to give the client more of a vision of the content I am trying to create.

Things to include in my final pitch presentation:
  • colour scheme
  • digital copies
  • content that the QR codes will be forwarded to

7 POTENTIAL QUESTIONS

1) What will the QR code entail for the reader?

The QR code will be a common feature in my magazine. It creates an interactive magazine with the influence of modern technology which is suited for my audience. It will scan leading to varied playlists made by the magazine for frequent readers and also showcase the music close to the theme that has recently been put out and potential future hits.

2) Why is the price £2.50?

£2.50 is a relatively cheap and average price for a magazine like mine. It is perfectly suited to my target NRS Social Grade and for the content and hard work put into the magazine it is a price that's very much worth the value.

3) What is meant by the 'retro colour scheme' and why have you chosen it?

As pictured on my moodboard slide, the retro colour scheme consists of vibrant and eccentric colours that would link perfectly to my chosen genre. The retro element provides a 'techno' ambience to my magazine which alludes to the theme and further illustrates it. It creates a visual idea for the reader to picture exactly what the content of my magazine consists of.

4) How would your magazine be expansionary to the target audience?

My magazine would primarily focus on the North London music scene as that is what the brief entails, however once my magazine becomes more established in the future I would want to reach out to other areas of London. This would create a larger frequent reader audience and my magazine would gain popularity. This idea could involve advertising in TFL underground stations and the hand out of leaflets in varied London enterprises.

5) How will you choose what North London venues to distribute your magazine to?

Most importantly, I would start with North London venues that are built around the focus of music like concert halls, arenas and music studios. This would be most convenient as this is the audience I would like to attract and most likely to be attracted to my magazine. I would also consider general North London venues like cinemas and cafes for any chance of extra recognition and establishment.

6) Why will young people specifically be the target audience to influence?

In my opinion, youth around the ages of 14-17 are the most influential in any generation. This is often the age where people start to build personalities, interests and hobbies therefore targeting them in this magazine allows them to consider the hobby of making and mixing music. Even if they do not choose this path, they can still build an interest into the music category, learning more about it and listening to it more frequently, hence my focus in my secondary audience.

7) How does your magazine entice people in a 21st century society?

Considering the modern influence of technology, I would need to incorporate this in my magazine somehow. Therefore I thought of how I could create a social media presence for my audience to be able to get in touch conveniently. This could be through twitter hashtags or following pages on instagram and facebook. Alternatively the USP of QR codes enables readers to spotify playlists, therefore gaining a presence on there, multiple playlists can be made frequently for invested readers to check out.
